Scissor Lift Course

This program is designed to provide elevated work platform operators with a solid foundation in health and safety standards, preventative maintenance and proper procedures for safe operation.  The course consists of classroom theory with a written component and practical, hands-on experience. 

Course content is presented through a PowerPoint presentation and interactive discussion, and reinforced through workbooks and supplementary handouts.  

The course curriculum covers: 

  • safety regulations and standards
  • aerial platform fundamentals 
  • hazard identificaiotn
  • manual and powered vertical aerial platforms
  • machine stability & characteristics
  • preventative maintenance & procedures (pre-operational inspections)
  • job safety analysis
  • machine orientation & safe operation: proper start up a& shut down protocol, steering & controls, operation envelope & range of motion, emergency controls, safe dismounting.
